Missouri Law Enforcement Use of Force Database
Missouri SB 53 implements a law enforcement use of force database to increase trust in police, help law enforcement leaders improve their practices, and counter the media’s misleading narrative on the topic.
Working across the aisle with public safety and criminal justice leaders in the Senate, Cicero Action got the nation’s strongest use of force database that still protects individual officers’ identities into two bills that were signed by the Governor.
Starting in 2022, an annual public report will allow citizens, policymakers, and the media to see department-wide data on use-of-force incidents—data that is not currently available to even law enforcement leadership from other local offices across the state.
